Cast Iron Plant Stand Base with Green Porcelain Shop Light Shade
Vintage Cast Iron Plant Stand Base with Green Porcelain Shop Light Shade, this is another completed Re-Light project, this is one of my favorites, it uses a 1924 cast iron salesman’s sample Floral plant stand made by the McCallum Co. out of Pittsburgh PA. I have photos of the original 5′ tall version and some company history. This cast iron base was not modified to make this lamp, just used as the base, it already had the hollow tube to make it a great donor, the green porcelain shade came from a ceiling light fixture from a factory in Cleveland. I clear coated the base to bring out it’s original layers of paint and patina, we used a color matched twisted cloth cord and a tubular Edison LED bulb to top it off. I love how the bulb pokes through the top of the shade, this was my original plan, I found this great looking brass shade ring and other supplies at a local vintage supply store (Vintage Wire and Supply).
